SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT...

For those of you who don’t know, I have a career in retail procurement. Making sure that our stores have the correct and most up to date assortment of t-shirts *barely* (but not even close) pays the bills. Blogging is what I started doing before I found my niche in corporate retail. I love my job, however, sometimes when you’re surrounded by fashion all the live long day, the last thing you want to do is come home and spend more time on it.....in my case, at least. To be perfectly blunt, I lost my passion for shooting content because I was exhausted. Here comes the spin....

This, sort of leads me to where we are headed: Dating. Specifically, my dating life. After 3 failed first dates, my teammates encouraged me to blog about it. Mostly for their entertainment, but also because I live in what should be, if not already, considered one of the most difficult cities to date in.

The backstory: I got out of a semi-serious relationship in July and picked up a bad habit in August. When that fizzled out, in the oddest of ways, in November, I took a breather and focused on myself. After the new year I decided to give dating another go. Re-enter into my iPhone apps: Bumble. But that wasn’t enough; options are important. After a rainy Sunday allowed for some Netflix and research time, I settled on The League.

My amateur, basic understanding of the two apps is as follows:
  • Bumble allows you to match with people in your general area, setting parameters regarding age, religion, etc. The interesting part is that the female makes the first move. Unlike other dating sites where either party can reach out, Bumble gives the girl 24 hours to send a message, or the match disappears.
  • The League, requires that you have a LinkedIn profile, and does research on all of their applicants. I was waitlisted for two weeks before getting an "acceptance letter" via email. Unlike others, The League gives you 3 matches a day during their version of "Happy Hour." Once you "heart" or "x" through these 3 matches, that's it until the next day at 5:00pm EST.
I have used the Notes app on my phone to keep copious notes on my phone about the several dates that I have been on. That, my friends, is a story for another post.....coming soon.
If you have a story about using a dating app, good or bad, I would love to hear it! Drop it in the comments or shoot me an email. I'm always interested. As always, thanks for stopping by and spending some time with Not Set in Silverstone. Happy Saturday!

CHAMBRAY TOP AND FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS

Today's post is going to be simple and sweet, just like this outfit! I've said for as long as I've had this blog, that I'm all about versatility and a good DEAL! Nothing in today's look (as far as clothing) is over $100 and almost all of it was purchased on sale. I couldn't find my exact chambray top but linked several similar ones, that are cheaper than what I paid. My faux leather leggings almost never go on sale, so when they do, I make sure to tell all my girlfriends to RUN and grab them. I wear them so many different ways and will be doing another post soon on how to dress them up a bit more. (See that? Versatility!) As far as my leopard flats, I love that animal print is considered a neutral, and can be used to give an outfit a bit of flare, without being over the top. I have worn these flats several times since purchasing them, and I always get a ton of compliments. Not to mention, they are super comfortable. I got my true size, 7½ and they fit like a glove. I have also linked a similar pair, for those who are on the mule train, but still want to rock animal print! Another piece in my wardrobe, and this outfit that is a staple through every season, is my tank top. These tanks are great for layering, especially if you're in the South, like me, where one day it's 85° and the next it's 45°. Make up your mind, Mother Nature!

Is there an outfit that you've put together that's super affordable, versatile, and comfortable? I'd love to hear about it in the comments, below! As always, thanks for stopping by :)
